FINDING LASTING RELIEF FROM CHRONIC HEEL PAIN
Painful lumps, or heel spurs, can grow behind or under the heel bone, and Dr. Callarman can relieve your pain often without surgery. That’s because he spends time to understand exactly what’s causing your heel pain. Is it an inflamed fascia or is it nerve pain? He’ll perform a comprehensive examination to get to the root of your problem. Most of our heel pain patients don’t require surgery.
Dr. Callarman can use a combination of shockwave therapy, custom orthotics, injection therapy, physical therapy and/or medication to help you walk comfortably again. When conservative treatment does not relieve your pain, he can also perform minimally invasive endoscopic plantar fasciotomy (EPF).
ADVANCED SPORTS INJURY CARE
Whether you’re a hard-training competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, you know the pain and frustration injuries can cause. When you injure your foot or ankle, it can sideline you for long periods of time if you don’t get proper treatment. Dr. Callarman has the training, experience and specialized expertise you need to stay competitive. Some of the sports injuries that he treats include:
- Plantar Faciitis and heel pain
- Achilles tendon injuries
- Ankle sprains
- Toe injuries, including turf toe
HELPING DIABETICS REST THEIR FEET AND EASE THEIR FEARS
Dr. Callarman is highly trained and experienced in the maintenance and management of diabetic foot issues. He will take special steps to help guard you against infections, foot ulcers and damage caused by poor circulation. And this includes educating you in the latest ways to care for your diabetic foot conditions.
If you suffer from any of these conditions, you may have been told that surgery is the best solution. But Dr. Callarman takes a conservative approach to treatment and can often alleviate painful foot problems without surgery. When surgery is the best option for lasting relief, it is usually performed at a local hospital. An anesthesiologist is always on hand to make sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
Bunions If conservative, nonsurgical measures don’t bring relief from your bunion pain, we can correct the deformity with a “bunionectomy” procedure, in which we surgically realign the bone, ligaments and tendons to restore your big toe to its proper position.
Hammertoes Hammertoe is a term used to describe a crooked, deviated or contracted toe. We can treat hammertoes with protective foot pads or surgery, if needed.
Neuromas Neuromas are caused by the thickening of the outer coating of a foot nerve. We may recommend custom orthotics (shoe inserts), injection therapy or shoe style/size. If symptoms become severe, surgical removal of the neuroma can provide lasting relief.
Flat feet If your foot’s arch loses its strength, the foot’s framework begins to collapse, causing the foot to flatten. We may prescribe special custom orthotics (shoe inserts), physical therapy and medication to relieve pain and inflammation. Surgery may be considered in severe cases.
Dr. Callarman will always explore all nonsurgical options before recommending surgical treatment. As a foot and ankle specialist with extensive postgraduate training, he is attuned to the latest advances in podiatry to give you the most sophisticated techniques available today.
His gentle, nonsurgical treatments can improve your foot and ankle health while keeping your feet functional for all your daily activities.
